FAQs

What is Demi?

A collection of premium half-proof spirits. Real craft distillation, real ingredients, real flavour — at 20% ABV. Not a compromise. A choice.

Why "Demi"?

Demi means half. Half-proof, to be precise. Our spirits are distilled to full
strength before we blend them down to 20% ABV — which means you get all the
character of a proper spirit with half the alcohol of a standard pour.

Why 20% ABV?

Because it's the sweet spot. High enough to behave like a real spirit in a cocktail — carrying flavour, holding its own on ice, mixing properly — low enough that ordering another one is a perfectly reasonable decision. We landed here after a lot of research, a lot of martinis, and not many headaches.

How is Demi made?

We source premium base ingredients — agave from the highlands of Jalisco, grains from the Ohio River Valley — and distill them to full strength at our Michigan distillery. We then blend the full-strength spirit with our own in-house distillate to reach 20% ABV. Nothing masked. Nothing added. Just a spirit that's been built, not diluted.

Is this just watered-down spirits?

No. Diluting a spirit with water changes its character entirely — the texture collapses, the flavour flattens. Our process blends two distillates together: a premium sourced spirit and an in-house base distillate. The result behaves like a spirit because it is one.

What's in it?

The spirit, and that's it. We never add sugar, flavouring, artificial preservatives, or anything else. What's in the bottle is what we distilled. The naturally occurring sugars you'll find come from the source ingredients themselves — the agave, the grain — not from us.

Does Demi contain sugar?

No added sugar, ever. There are naturally occurring sugars in the base ingredients — particularly in the agave — but we add nothing. What you taste is the spirit doing its job.

How many calories?

Lower ABV means fewer alcohol-derived calories — roughly half those of a standard spirit serve, before mixers. We'll let you do the maths, but the short answer is: order the second round guilt-free.

Is Demi vegan?

Yes.

Are there any artificial preservatives?

No. Nothing artificial, full stop.

Is Demi safe for pregnant women?

Our spirits contain significantly less alcohol than a standard pour, and we have friends who've made that choice. But we're spirits people, not doctors — that one's between you and yours.

How does Demi mix in cocktails?

Extremely well. At 20% ABV, Demi holds its
structure in a cocktail — it doesn't disappear behind mixers or collapse on ice the way many lower-alcohol alternatives do. A Demi Martini is a proper martini. A Demi Margarita is a proper margarita. The ratios stay the same. The ritual stays intact.

What's the difference between Demi and non-alcoholic spirits?

Non-alcoholic spirits set out to replicate the experience of a spirit without the alcohol. We set out to make great spirits and dial back the proof. It's a different starting point, and it produces a different result. Demi tastes like a spirit because it is one.

Where are your spirits made?

Our vodka and tequila are produced at our distillery in Michigan, using sourced grain from the Ohio River Valley and agave from Los Altos de Jalisco. Our gin is made in Lincolnshire, England. Proper provenance, all three.

Where can I buy Demi?

Online via this site, and through selected retailers. Use our store finder to see what's nearest to you. If your local doesn't stock us yet, that's what the "contact" page is for.

Can I use Demi in any cocktail recipe?

Yes — use it anywhere you'd use a standard
spirit, in the same quantities. Same glass, same garnish, same bartender judgement.
The only thing that changes is how you feel at the end of the evening.

What's the shelf life?

Treat it like a spirit: store it somewhere cool and dark, keep the cap on, and it'll last. We'd recommend drinking it before it becomes a curiosity, but it's in no hurry.

Do you ship nationwide?

We ship across the US. Delivery and shipping details are calculated at checkout — spirits shipping is regulated, so we always require an adult signature on delivery. It's the law, and frankly, the right call.
